a special form of light painting by summerfield

a special form of light painting

my get-pushed challenge for last week was so special i had to wait until i get back to work this week. @homeschoolmom challenged me to do a special form of light painting. of course, my office building downtown and the other neighbouring towers are perfect specimen for this technique. i wish i had a wider lens so i could've gotten more perfect light circles. quite fun to do, you should've seen the reaction of the people passing by as i looked at this and i pumped my fist into the air yelling "yessssss!!"

the building below is our office tower, the RBC plaza south tower and the building on top is one of the brookfield towers. there's a fog that was starting to descend but i'm glad the outline of the top of the buildings was retained and didn't get lost in the movement.

i shall try to do this again when the weather is nicer. i'm pretty sure this would look spectacular during the blue hour. or maybe when the northster and i go photo-ing next.
@homeschoolmom - lisa, here's the assignment you gave me? hope you will like it. i tried with the Christmas tree, it was a big fail. but this is what i was waiting to do. thank you for the push!

you actually got the center of the circle at the tip of the building. awesome.

I adore this and would be interested in reading more about the technique. It's not the kind of light painting with which I'm familiar.

Interesting not sure about it but interesting .... are you outside looking up and the light painting is green? I'm baffled but it doesn't take much to baffle me.

Man, I had to look at this for a while to figure out what was going on here. Now I get it - very cool!
