i did bubbles this morning. i actually shot a few nice ones until i realized there was no SD card in the camera. my canon 60D operates without it but does not record. how inept could i be? when i finally got a card, the bubble's in the same condition as yesterday's. mega fail, really!
so i set about doing this spherized flower collage. i spent practically the whole morning, sans breakfast, until well after one and this is all i could come up with. second major fail of the day and it's been only half a day. i have managed to do a proper one earlier on but in my excitement and my ineptness, it got erased. i don't know how it happened. never mind, i already know how to, i can start again. and that's where the problem began. i couldn't make the elliptical marquee to form a circle on my contact sheet. an oblong it could make or something that was in the shape of a football. i really got frustrated, i almost stabbed my screen with the butter knife. ["i'm sorry, your honour, but i don't know where that butter knife came from."] so i clicked on spherized anyway and i got this. the problem was i had to clone out the rest of the collage that's why this thing looks like it's been strangled like a pregnant moose in the back alley. this was supposed to have a reflection but i couldn't proceed and i haven't had lunch yet so i just abandoned the idea. i went out to buy groceries hoping i could come back and maybe restart. nah, you guys know how inept i am with photoshop and that is the excuse i am invoking.
if anyone has done this before, would appreciate your sage advice. i was watching a gavin hoey tutorial but it was old, something like 2008, and my photoshop cc is more or less recent. and that is my way of telling you you might yet see another one of this later on. make that much much later on.
I've done this from the Galvin Hoey video also. To make a perfect circle, I think you press the Shift key while dragging out your circle with the elliptical selection. This does look great though!
This is fabulous all gorgeous flower shots, I. Loved doing a few a these, reminds me to have another go but need time as i don’t really know photoshop that well :-)
Your narrative is so on the button, made me smile from ear to ear :) Great job, doesn't look strangulated to me. Can't remember which video I used but I do remember having one heck of a job with the circle. Love your result, look forward to more!
@bizziebeeme - i hope you do it soon, while i'm still interested. :-) let me know please how to do the circle thingie.
@featherstone26 - i followed gavin hoey's instructions. i was able to do the circle but i don't know what happened, it got erased. and when i re-did it, i couldn't make a circle anymore. if i did, it would just be one small teeny-weeny circle. it was kind of frustrating. i'll go in your album later on and see yours.
that sounds like quite a morning. I hope you went out and bought comfort food. Your epic fail no 2 is actually a rather impressive piece of work - it looks stunning when given some space by viewing on black. Your narrative so entertaining and yet conveying the frustration. Fav for the combination.
I think this looks good. I did some of these back in August. I think the photos on mine were not quite as "blocky" but can't really remember how I did them. I could have sworn I had posted some on 365project, but can't seem to find them. I used the video "3D photo ball and reflection in Photoshop - Week 27" by Gavin Hoey from YouTube to make mine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKbUM5NLJ_g
I also think it looks fantastic! I would be happy with it anyway. I haven't tried to make one of these but in PS if you hold your shift key while making the circle it should constrain it to a proper circle and not an oval. Not sure if you were meaning that or not. I'll have to try to make one of these maybe.
@summerfield
This is fabulous. I have done a few 3D orb photos and posted them on 365 over the years. I also did the same Gavin Hoey tutorial as Kathy @randystreat I find the best way to remember how to do the orb is to watch the tutorial and at the same time write down the instructions on paper, I then print out the instructions and follow them at my own speed without having to keep clicking on the tutorial, it is less distracting that way. Good luck, look forward to seeing more. Here are a couple of my orbs. http://365project.org/onewing/365/2017-12-19 http://365project.org/onewing/365/2017-01-12
@onewing Gosh, it's really not been that long ago, but I'd have to review the video to remember what the spectral highlight is. But I think it's a good one, too, Babs.
