the bride wore off white by summerfield

the bride wore off white

i had a hankering for ginger molasses cookies which i discovered at a bakeshop at the distillery district. so in pursuit of a shot for little blue's forthcoming appearances, i went to the distillery district. and there was a wedding party waiting to be let into the venue.

i like the bride's dress, very simply constructed using very elegant fabric. she's not a beauty but she looked gorgeous in that dress.

tagging this in support of the current artist challenge featuring "family of man" see https://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/31835/patience-rewarded-artist-challenge-the-family-of-man

blurb taken from the MoMA write up: The photographs included in the exhibition focus on the commonalities that bind people and cultures around the world and the exhibition itself served as an expression of humanism in the decade following World War II.

i suppose a wedding, which is a family event/celebration, is a commonality as it occurs in almost all cultures, n'est-ce pas?

in any case, i am just playing to encourage you nice folks to join in with an entry or two.

and whilst we're at it, might i entice you folks to put in an entry or two or three for the tag challenge? oh, please, you will make me so happy! here's the low down:

Certainly ticks the 'family of man' boxes, great candid Vikki. Some wonderful expressions in this shot.

Cute tags. I like the photo a lot and I think it satisfies that challenge beautifully. I like your choice of edit

This is so perfect for the challenge! I love your editing too.

Perfect for the challenge theme. It really makes the bride's dress stand out.

I agree on the dress. The intensity and variety of communications through expressions going on in the photo is fascinating and what makes it really worthy of the artist challenge entry. Ill see if I cant rustle up a tag-challenge entry this week.

I think you did fabulous here

I think you got the gist of the original exhibition quite nicely. I didn't realize this was actually a challenge. I still have to pull my book off the shelf and go through the pictures. Good shot!

Nice image, Vikki! I don't know if you'd find it a bother, but may I critique this? I would love to see a tighter crop, same proportions, but encompassing the bride and the woman with whom she's having some discourse! That seems the dramatic element without the others in the photo being engaged in it. I'm also drawing only from Black and white images, as that is how the entire show was presented. You're absolutely correct that a wedding crosses all cultures, and that not everything goes smoothly as "we plan" in all those months ahead! Good choice, but are you interested in making that change? I'll wait until evening to set this to a vote. Thanks, darlin' for playing along!

@Weezilou - here you go, my lady. all's well with you, i hope?

That's it! Thank you! I'll set up the finalists later. As to "All's well?", not exactly... My back went out and after two emergency room visits and a lot of pain meds, I decided it best to return to CA and see my doctors who have treated this before... I had a CT scan as soon as I was back and an MRI tomorrow... nothing out of the ordinary for me, but debilitating while it lasts... Hoping to return in late August... I suppose nothing ever goes exactly as planned! But I'll be fine...thanks!

Again, regarding this photo, I look at the party member and see "Those Gesturing Hands!" and "That Expression!" Wouldn't you love to know what went on?!
