this is banana flambé, tonight's dessert. the banana in my post two days ago has ripened to the perfect time for a flambé. and luckily there's still a bit of whisky left, but i didn't fire it, because the last time i did, my eyelashes became flambé, too! i took my time in photographing this, forgetting that the ice cream would be melting with the hot banana. it may not look that appetizing but if you were here, you'd be putting a gun against my head just so i will make you your very own banana flambé. truly.
i keep cooking. i keep eating. i keep my weight. if nobody takes that fridge away or at least empties it, i'd be humongous by next week. i have 5 tubs of ice cream - pistachio, brownie chocolate, french vanilla, heavenly hash and rum raisin. i should get rid of them. i should eat them all in one sitting. ugh!
okay, jackster, how to make the flambé:
1 medium sized banana, cut into four. heat up just a bit of oil in a pan and put the banana pieces and let cook until they're brown-ish on both sides. put a dollop (just a small dollop) of butter to brown the banana pieces. pour maple syrup (or whatever syrup you want, just not the auntie jemima one; brown sugar is better though). when bubbly, ready your match, and pour whisky or brandy, however much you want, just not the whole bottle. and lit with your match. be careful not to burn yourself. and never, ever, pour more alcohol while there's still fire. when fire is off, transfer to a plate and serve with some toasted almond slices (or toasted crushed pecans) and french vanilla ice cream. make another one for the him. 😂🤣😊
Yum, that looks and sounds delicious. I'll have to try your recipe. On the ice cream front having 5 flavours in the freezer would be way too dangerous for my waistline and even worse for Graham.
Will certainly use recipe when this is all over.
