the northster and i went downtown to do some photographing. we went to the city hall as there is a light display that i only saw during daytime and i wanted to see how it looked when it was all lit up. but it was still daylight, so we just took a few photos and walked down to the waterfront. this caught my eye, a fire in the middle of a large water trill behind the grandstand. the fire was dancing in the small wind and was reflected in the water. i liked the juxtaposition of water and fire.
whilst i had put away my Christmas decorations, i think i will leave the fairy curtain lights for now. there's something about it that makes me feel happy to see the living room windows all sparkly behind the lace curtains, especially on a cold snowy night like last night.
Super reflections!
Definitely leave the fairy curtain lights! Especially because they make you happy.
In the library of the Elementary School in Houston where I volunteered we took away all the Christmas decorations on the first day back to school, but left all the "neutral" winter stuff like snowmen. They returned to their boxes some time in February.
Nice image, well caught. I left one set of lights up after last year and they are still there! Extra sparkle does help. I hate clearing it all away just before my birthday - I keep the light as long as I can.
This is a great image. I’m going to look back through your album to see the “fairy curtain lights”, they sound wonderful! *I just found your curtain lights image. How fabulous! I would leave them up too!
That is an interesting juxtaposition with the fire and water. It makes a very interesting shot especially with the reflection. I like the idea of leaving the lights until the days are longer. I bet they do make it more cheerful.
