the storm takes a respite by summerfield

the storm takes a respite

but the winds are still high. it's -12 degrees celcius outside but with the humidity it feels like -26. the winds are blowing south-west at 50 kilometers per hour with gusts of 74 kilometers per hour. it's a dangerous world out there. it had been raining since last night until the snow came at around noon. tomorrow with even stronger gusts of wind and blowing snow, movement would be very difficult for the old knee. we have a scheduled dinner before the Christmas eve service and i'm supposed to be helping out. i'm not sure now if i want to go out there.

i had hoped to put up my little tripod Christmas tree but with the weather outside, i don't feel the Christmas spirit, except in that loaf of very sumptuous fruit cake that i've been nibbling at since after lunch. i'm trying my best to ignore it by doing some watercolour painting and making sure my chargers are full and that my tablet and phone are adequately charged just in case we get a power outage (which i pray doesn't happen at all). but just in case, i filled my water thermos with boiling water, and i'm making a list of what i should be putting in the cooler if this storm causes a dire situation.

so if you don't see me tomorrow here, it means i'm buried in snow and ice. 🥴
A beautiful capture. Wishing the weather will be better soon!

What a beautiful winter is seeing with all that snow in those lights.

Since you seem to be so well prepared for an outage it will not happen. It only happens when you’re not ready! I wouldn’t mind our cold temperatures if we had some pretty snow like this to accompany it. Stay warm and safe
