This was the main purpose of my visit to London. I'd already bought two of the poppies, one for my Grandfather and one for his younger brother. They both died at the Somme within two weeks of each other. It seemed fitting to go to London and actually see the poppies in situ.
I rather like this view with Tower Bridge in the background.
Wow, how beautiful and how moving. Its just such a fitting idea. Lots of questions .. are the poppies there for .. how long I wonder? and how did you manage to take this without any other people in it? You must have been up very early. Great composition, and thanks.
@thresheg@beryl@barneyone@pamelaclarke Thank you all for your comments and thank you for the fav Graham. To answer your questions Pamela.....The poppies are still being installed. Tha installation will be completed by Remembrance Sunday and then it will be dismantled and the poppies will be sent to those people who have bought them. The poppies are all in the moat. You can't go down there (unless you're the Queen) so the poppies are viewed from above. There were quite a lot of people there but it wasn't crowded.
Lovely composition of this fabulous sight, also like the way you have incorporated Tower Bridge. Despite only living 50 miles from London I rarely go there, but would love to see these poppies before they dismantle them.
