We were baking ALL DAY!! First we made sausage rolls and cheese muffins and ate some for lunch, then we made rock cakes (Grandpa's favourite) and butterfly cakes and then we made pasta bake for supper. The girls loved it and were very good. (Mummy was working upstairs!)
@beryl Thank you for your nice comment Beryl. We all had a great day. Rock cakes are a favourite in this house and I often make them to include in packed lunches for B&B guests.
@susiemc Rock cakes were one of the items we used to make in the year 7 cooking in the progression of the rubbing in method of cake method 1)rubbing in-= crumbles 2) rubbing in +liquid = rock cakes 3) rubbing-in+ liquid + rolling and cutting = scones 4) rubbing -in even more precision of liquid and rolling out =pastry This is going back to the good old days of domestic science !! -- times have changed !
That sounds like the sort of domestic science I did when I was at school (although that was long before you were teaching it) and it's stood me in good stead, even though I went on to become a maths and physics teacher. Things don't always change for the better.
