I know Jays raid the nests of smaller birds and they eat the eggs and kill the chicks but I do think they're beautiful. During all the years we've lived here we've had glimpses of Jays flitting between the trees but this year they've discovered the seed on the floor under the bird feeders that the other birds have dropped. This lot come every morning. I think they must be a family. The photos were taken from our bedroom window, through the glass.
I've looked it up .. its a scold of jays but I think a raid of jays is just as good! Really lovely pictures. Good fieldcraft because they're notoriously flighty.
