Chris scattered a packet of nasturtium seeds on a bare bit of ground and now it's covered with flowers of all different shades of yellow and orange. Very pretty.
Very pretty indeed -- I have vowed each year to buy some nasturtium seeds for the next year ,but as yet I have not done so . my only reservation is that they attract the cabbage white butterfly and I have seen the caterpillars stripping the stems bear !
@beryl I didn't know that Beryl. Interestingly enough we don't seem to get cabbage whites here just green veined white but now that you've told me about nasturtiums attracting them I'll look out for them.
oh beautiful! That collection is so lovely - do you eat them? I love both the flowers and leaves in salads (don't just pick and nibble in the garden they are rather hot). fav
@carole_sandford@gijsje@aglennc Thank you so much. I'm sure that back in the day nasturmiums were all orange, that's how I remember them in my Dad's garden. I love all these differents shades.
@koalagardens Thank you KG. No, we don't eat them but perhaps we should. I'll try some and let you know how I get on.
@julzmaioro Thank you Julia. I'm sure all these different colours are relatively new, only bright orange ones grew in my Dad's garden.
@pennyrae They are pretty aren't they. Just be patient and I'm sure you'll have a wonderful display.

@happysnaps Thanks Valerie
@cruiser Yes they smell AND look beautiful which is amazing when you think that prefer to grow in really poor soil.
@merrelyn Thanks Merrelyn. I'm amazed that they create such a beautiful display in the poorest of soil.
