This is the highest waterfall in South Wales with a drop of 27m (90 ft). It is in the Brecon Beacons National Park. I walked there with my friend Nicola, from her house. She lives within the boundary of the National Park. It was a beautiful walk through a wooded gorge but very strenuous in parts. The weather was perfect, blue skies and sunshine but not too hot. It's possible to walk behind the waterfall which is fun. Nicola didn't do that but I couldn't resist. We've had a long spell of very dry weather so we weren't expecting quite so much water in the falls. It must be spectacular after heavy rain but then the path to get there is apparently very muddy and slippery.
I showed hubby this picture, telling him it was taken in South Wales. His remark: I remember you could walk behind the waterfall...and that's also the first thing I remembered when I saw your beautiful picture. Our first time in Wales was in 1996, second time was in 2006. Time to revisit!
@gijsje Iām pleased my photo brought back happy memories. Next time you come we must meet up. Although we no longer live in Wales weāre not far away.
Beautiful scene. It would be nice to take a photo from under the waterfall when it isn't so slippery. I wonder if there is enough room to walk under it.
@onewing Thank you Babs. Actually I did go behind the waterfall and I did take a photo. After I read your comment I decided I should post it. Watch this space, Iāll post it tomorrow š
@sangwann Thank you Dione. I do things that I probably shouldnāt do at my age but I am a lot more careful than I used to be when I was younger. Tomorrow Iāll post a photo that I took from behind the waterfall.
