A year ago we ordered some plants from a mail order nursery. They came with a free gift of 6 lupins. Last year they didn't do well because the rabbits ate them (although they did recover and produce some flowers) but this year, because of the warm weather in April, the lupins got a good start before the baby rabbits were out and about. Can you spot the 6 different colours? It's amazing that they're all flowering at the same time.
They are beautiful.. There is a area in the South Island that is famous for their display of lupins around the lakes and riverbeds.. It has people coming from far a wide to see the spectacular site.. Now the 'Powers that Be' are threatening yo spray them out as they are not Native.. grrr... Hopefully I will see them.at their best before this happens..
Too gorgeous. You are lucky to have them flowering all together. Most species of flowers take it in turns, one colour blooming after the other, sometimes even after the other colour have withered.
