Most of my roses, including this one, were new last year. I bought a raised bed kit ( which my wonderful husband assembled) and there are eight of them in it. They're doing really well.
A little while ago I mentioned that we had a serious greenfly problem and I bought 100 ladybird larvae. They were microscopic and on tiny bits of paper. We followed the instructions and sprinkled them on the lower branches of all the roses - the gertrude jekyll climber was particularly badly affected. Well, to this day we haven't seen any larvae and we've seen one ladybird. However, there isn't a single greenfly to be found on any of the roses or in fact anywhere in the garden. I consider this to be a success story.
