Storm Casualty

This is all that is left of a giant redwood which stood for 140 years in Sheffield Park and Garden in Sussex until it was blown apart by a lightning strike in a storm on the 16th November last year. The base of the tree is still alive and it is hoped that new shoots will grow from the base.
Wow! That tree would have been massive! How encouraging to see the growth on the base of the tree! And fabulous light and colours in this shot, Sue! (I love the greens and the blue!) Fav

After 140 years, I'm sure this great tree will survive. Such a beautiful speciman.
