My photobuddy, a very large rock known as The Whetstone and 9 monkey puzzle trees.
We made it to the top!! The 360 degree views were spectacular.
The Whetstone: It is thought that during the plague of 1366 a weekly market was held at the stone, where wheat (whet) was put onto the stone by farmers from the surrounding area, who would then back off to allow the townspeople to collect it and leave their money in exchange…..this was in an effort to avoid infection.
The monkeypuzzle trees: Richard Banks, the current owner of Hergest Croft Estate planted nine monkey puzzles trees on top of the hill, having seen similar trees growing on mountain tops in Chile in the early 1990's.
Beautiful capture and a great story. Wish I had a photobuddy, and if the buddy looks like her it woud be even better, haha. My two former buddies, my son and son-in-law have lost interest in photography and the only buddy I have now is my seven-year old grandson.
