Secret Waterfall by suzanne234

Secret Waterfall

Until today I did not know this weir existed. Luckily for me Gary does and took me on an impromptu visit .
It's only a ten minute drive away, and is a hidden away, little known feature on our waterway. It is the confluence of the River Rase with the southern reaches of the River Ancholme.

Oh you lucky girl - running water just waiting for slow exposures ... (not that I've mastered this yet!)

@fbailey Thank you! I cant believe this is hidden away, even most locals don't know about it. I must have gone through just about every setting on my camera, with no real clue what I was doing!! At least I now know where this is so I can return if I ever figure them out :)

@suzanne234 Must confess when I joined here I used Auto mode ALL the time. Have just about got to grips with Manual after a fashion. Don't have a clue about the rest!

Hi Suzanne, goes to show we don't always no what s on our door step, a lovely find, and a great shot and I think you have captured the movement of the water really well can see it rushing furiously, can imagine the noise. Like the blk and white. I tried running water shot at Elshem but I could not figure the setting out either, I just went into auto...still trying to work a lot out on the camera, :)

@lovingandsharing Haha, will we ever work them out! I did get clearer shots of the water, not idea what setting it was on, or it could have been a lucky fluke! The water was so loud, and could be heard from quite a distance. If I had known we were going I wouldn't have worn flip flops, which somewhat hampered the trek to the weir :-)

As I am not one for studying manuals and tend to panic if I think I have to remember too many technical things, I advocate familiarity - eventually, even if you don't know why, you will know which settings work . Or, if in doubt, try them all and see what happens. You found a great POV for this hidden feature of your landscape. What an exciting find.
