Whilst trying to capture the seed head of the Willowherb this Hoverfly was determined to make an appearance.
I decided it would be easier to oblige than keep wafting him away. A quick change in settings which I'm happy to report don't bewilder me quite as much, and I ended up with this, which I was fairly pleased with.
Still an awful long way to go but your advice and encouragement is getting me there ( I think)
Well done Suzanne. Your change of settings resulted in a nice clear photo of the Hoverfly. Don't be afraid to crop your photo if you wish to use only part of it to tell the story.
@alex_g Thank you Alex, I did wonder about if to crop this, I was probably thinking the flowers look quite pretty!, but you are right, I think they are too much of a distraction. I'll have a play, see if I can improve this.
@suzanne234 I feel that is a stronger picture. The Hoverfly has become part of the scene and story. It is on a 1/3 position which helps draw the eye to it and there are sufficient flowers on the right to balance the negative space on the left. Well done. Do'nt overdo the cropping otherwise you will lose too much of the colour in the flowers.
Hi Suzanne, amazing capture of this hover fly in flight, he was determined to get to the get to the Willowherb, , timed well, love the soft back ground capturing the nice country side. fav :)
Well done for adjusting the settings so well. reminds me of yesterday, I was close up to hoverflys with the macro settings on, and the red arrows flew over unexpectedly - in formation. I had two seconds to adjust my camera and they were gone. I didn't succeed!
Well done for the quick camera setting change. Often my mind goes blank in those situations and l can't think quick enough, but find I'm getting better at it. Great capture
