We had a visit to The Deep today in Hull. Me and my camera (well me really) struggled with this one, I'm really not great at indoor shots at the best of times, but the conditions here had me beat on what settings I should be using. Anyway in the end I used Gary's phone which coped much better than my little bridge camera. No great shots of the sharks I'm afraid but I do think these Moon Jellyfish looked cool.
The circular patterns on the jellyfish are their stomachs and reproductive organs according to the booklet
Thank you for your comments, they are always very much appreciated
It is tough shooting indoors. You can't use flash cos the light bounces of the glass right back at ya. You push your ISO up you get noise - argh! What do we do? We went to an ice palace in Bruges last year. I put my camera away and let Helen take the shots on her mobile. She did a good job too š Just as you have done a fantastic job here. And it looks awesome on black š
Hi Suzanne. This is a super shot. Really well done. I know exactly what you mean about shooting indoors. I struggle big time with my camera and often find that the phone does a better job.
So pretty - love the blue jellyfish! A friend of mine who is a very accomplished photographer told me once to just set my camera on automatic (gasp!) when I'm shooting inside and don't have a tripod or time or inclination to figure out the best manual settings. I've since figured out that she is right!
Great shot, though I hate them in real life. They are common in july and august in the baltic sea and every summer when I was a kid I hated when they turned up and I had to swim among them.
Are they dangerous? Every now and then we get a few jellyfish when we go to swim in the sea in Summer. I don't know what type they are but their sting really hurts.
@sangwann The booklet tells me that they can sting but not enough to be fatal. it can cause some pain, or a rash, most apparently don't know they have been stung because it doesn't penetrate well through the skin.
Zings on black BTW
