When we are all born kicking and screaming into a word where all the land and all the resources have already been divided up. Fences are in place to keep us out. The rules are all set in stone. Not to protect the individual, but to protect the 1% of the population who own 40% of the wealth........ and that is a figure that seems to be getting worse as we move forward.
Politicians talking about freedom rings a little hollow to me. We are all serfs of the new feudal system run by the new ruling elite. The banks, the media, the giant corporations. The Governments seem like little more than a PR firm who paper over the cracks in society and put a positive spin on the worst excesses of their financial backers.
The only true freedom I have ever found is in creativity, When I am writing music in my studio, there are no restriction, no rules, no commercial pressures, no ruling elite telling me what notes and instruments I can use, No rules, no limits.
When I sit down to write music, I do it purely for my own personal gratification and enjoyment. If some people like what I have written, and buy my CDs (and many do) that is a bonus. I will probably never become a major commercial success, but that is not what I am trying to do. It does however generate enough money to support my recording studio and finance my ever growing collection of musical instruments.
It also allows me to provide my musical services and professional recording facilities for free to The Pirates of St. Piran who bring joy to lots of people and raise many thousands of pounds for charity each year. Now that is a real double bonus.
This is my little piece of freedom and one of the things that makes my life a very happy one. It is also the reason why this sign sits in permanent residence on the piano in my studio.
I'm sure that many other musicians, painters, sculptors, dancers, writers, filmmakers and even you photographers feel the same about their art. Never give up on your own creativity and your one true freedom.
It is not the truth...... but art that will set you free.

Just a quick note to say that this a shot from my first roll of film taken with my new (ancient) Zenit 11 35mm film camera which I posted earlier in the month. I just love it.... and will post a few more shots from the roll over the next few days.
