My partner in life is a lifelong fan of dance, introducing me to ballet as one of our first dates. Tonite, we took our granddaughter to her first 'grownup' ballet. This is a candid (thanks to iPhone) of Grandpa helping her use the program to match dancers to what they would perform, and use the program to learn about the dance and music. The setting really is that 'golden' which I also was trying to capture. I would never have considered taking a candid before get-pushed-30.
Hi Taffy - I have looked through your album and see lots of lovely shots of the sky lines and up close and personal macro shots. I see fire and I was wondering if I could get push you to do something with water? Looking forward to my challenge and very nice to meet you
Super candid Taffy! You have captured "grandpa" in his element, and the audience around him gives this shot great context. And the golden color is perfect.
@scarlettau She loved it, then spent the night and served as my model for trying my first portraits today. A very special weekend.
@jankoos@busylady@shelldunn Thank you for the kind comments. Michelle, I shared your comment with "grandpa" and it touched him. @danielwsc Thanks for your comment and the analysis -- it makes me feel successful in the shot.
I was about her age the first ballet I ever saw- it was in St. Louis, and went with a friend of the family- a great experience for a child of this age. Can still remember the feeling that this was something very important and adult for me to be doing. :-)
A beautiful memory, well preserved! I always hesitate on candids, too, but in the end, that's how we want to remember special moments and things we see . . . I am trying hard to get beyond the posed photos of yesteryear! (or rather, yester-decades!)
