Several years ago, I spoke at Fordham University, on the same program as Karen Hesse who had just won the Newbery Award for best children and adolescent book of the year (1998) for Out of the Dust. She described her reaction to winning the Newbery as having all the fireworks she'd ever seen all going off in her head at the same time. I thought of that when I learned my Rainbow at Niagara Falls photo had been selected as one of the TT for week 160. I didn't have any photos from today that were that compelling so decided instead to create this collage using firework photos I took last night. Thank you all SOOO much for all your wonderful support, encouragement, kind comments, and favs for my Niagara photos, and the rainbow one in particular. I'm so grateful to have found 365 and so many wonderful fellow photographers and friends.
UPDATE: So many noted they looked like they were in flowerpots that I changed the title -- thanks!! It's a much better title!
fab collage. I thought the reflections looked like flower pots all lined up like this, which makes the image look like flowers in flowerpots lined up in 2 rows. great collection of firework shots
This is a fantastic collage and perfectly describes your joy. Well done on the TT and on being a finalist in the weekly theme. I think you're going to walk that one!
Congrats on your TT, Taffy - very well deserved.
This is fantastic! I love all the colors - individually the captures are awesome but all together - simply marvelous! FAV!
Wow, this is truly stunning collage, I think I'd love to see each of the photos separately as they all seem so perfectly captured! And yes, the fireworks in the head is pretty accurate description of the feeling :) Huge congrats, once again!
Congrats on your TT shot...it was very worthy of that place :) I love this montage of all those firework shots...and I see them as flowers in flower pots too :)
Thank you all for your wonderful comments. Scott, I love that you couldn't decide on a favorite! And to all of you who suggested flowerpots, thanks as that is a much better name for the photo.
How wonderfully creative and colorful. It really expresses your emotion and I just love it! A wonderful commentary as well...and I so agree about 365..I could never have imagined the friendship, support and encouragement that radiates from this group! FAV!
What a beautiful collection of fireworks! It's funny how it looks like the wind was blowing them all a certain way. Definitely need to view this large!
@emrob I think you're right about the wind. I hadn't even thought about it but makes total sense as that was the direction it was blowing! Thanks for taking the time to view it large!
@archaeofrog Thanks Katie! I think Hesse is amazing -- it was quite an experience to be able to meet and talk with her. I did a talk on 'Book Club' and she did a talk about writing her books, and then the participating teachers were in book clubs to talk about Out of the Dust. Then she responded at the end, after dropping in on the various groups. IT was the most fun PD I've ever been a part of.
What a great way to celebrate--such a fun collage--it's like an identification chart of every type of firework! So glad you had a view. We had rain, clouds, and just general ugliness all outside. :(
@darylo That's a bummer! Does Atlanta put on fireworks over the course of the summer? In Chicago they do them at Navy Pier every Wed and Sat, which I think would be fun to photograph if I were there in the summer.
@taffy Only at baseball games or at other events where you pay to go--I'm sure there will be other times--will just have to check online for some free events. :) I at least get to live vicariously through the 365 shots, which would all be better than mine--I really haven't practiced night photography at all!
Amazing collage. Big congrats on TT too! I am hoping to rejoin 365 later on in the year but will definitely come back from time to time to comment/fav your lovely photos :)

Thanks Jnadonza, Myrna, MaryBeth, Amanda, and Michael!
Amanda -- you picked the Niagara one last time -- hopefully it means this is just as good (even if it isn't on PP or anything -- it means you like it that much!).
@vankrey Oh, forgot to add this, Michael -- I'd wanted to get the reflection of the fireworks on the lake as I thought that would look so good. But for some reason, all we got was the changing color of the water. I'm wondering if we weren't far enough away, or if the lake wasn't calm enough. Oh well.
@danielwsc Thanks for letting me know Daniel! When I look at it, it's not there, unless I hit shuffle. So I must be at a second level or something -- but that's exciting!!
And there's an art show here that I'm going to put it in @janine3 because my friend Janine has been encouraging me (she's an artist). AND, the gallery on the island is going to 'carry' some photos too. It's cool to be part of the 'artist community' here!!
@danielwsc Thanks Daniel! It's really great to have such a small community here and Sue Thompson who owns the gallery is committed to 'local' artists. I'm excited and am choosing the photos now to drop off on Friday. I've already learned about how to order matting and plastic sleeves!
This is fantastic! I love all the colors - individually the captures are awesome but all together - simply marvelous! FAV!
very nice creation of wonderful photos
Thanks Ana, Pam, Alia, Kim, Paul, Jan, and Amrita for Faving this photo. I really appreciate it.
