Tonight we came into town for a Baroque on Beaver concert (info in extras album - http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2013-08-03). On a break, I went outside and saw this kid across the street at the public beach swinging with his bright yellow sweatshirt against the blue lake and sky. I thought of the technique challenge for high shutter speed and went over to see if I could photograph him. His mom gave me permission and I've already sent them their copy. He was really excited and wanted to see the image on my camera several times before he'd let me return to the parish hall for the concert.
Amazing! Love how you trusted your eye when you saw something worth it and that you were able to get permission from the mom. He looks like he's flying!
@eyesmile Thanks Gena! It was actually hard to go back into the concert as it was so beautiful outside. We did end up listening from outside the hall for about a half hour.
@timandelke THanks Elke! @jo13@ness50@abhijit Thanks Jo, Ness and abhijit -- I ended up only taking about 5 shots and could have used any of them. Very unusual! But my favorite was this one where he flipped (and I'm not sure it was intentional!).
Really great contrast against that blue sky and yellow jacket & focus against that blurry background. Wonderful and fun capture! He sure looks like he´s having the best time ever swinging that high.
It's really a great capture! I always ask to photo kids because I know I get sensitive if people start shooting away! I bet the kid Loooooved it. I love his feet in the air with the stunning blue highlighting the little piggies!
@kwind Thanks Kim! It really was the golden hour. And thanks for the fav!
@mzzhope Thanks Hope -- he was most cooperative to tip like that -- but I wasn't sure if it was by accident or not!
@sangwann Thanks for the fav, Dione!
@thirdjoe @joluise @inphokus Thanks Joe, Jo, and Kathy -- definitely helped to shoot in the golden hour.
@jo13 @ness50 @abhijit Thanks Jo, Ness and abhijit -- I ended up only taking about 5 shots and could have used any of them. Very unusual! But my favorite was this one where he flipped (and I'm not sure it was intentional!).
@aprilmilani @stimuloog Thanks April and Marloes!
@jodimuli Joey, thanks so much for the fav!
@janine3 Thanks Janine! I see an advantage to your being in town -- more opportunities for these kind of shots!
@lakruijf Thanks lakruijf! I appreciate your enthusiasm for the shot!
@susale Thanks Susale! I noticed you haven't posted recently -- hope all is well!
