Two weeks from tonight we will be back in Chicago which is making our time left bittersweet. I feel so lucky to have had the summer here, and greedy to think that I wish we could be here longer.
To me, sunsets are also bittersweet -- beautiful sights but they signal the end of the day. Tonight's was lovely.
Superb shot. Just look at all of those crepuscular rays (and I am noting even more sensor dust now Taffy. Time for a professional sensor clean and a letter to Nikon about their dust problem!)
Oh yes looks very dramatic. Love the sunbeams, glory of sunsets from nature´s own show, mystifying and really dramatic. You are lucky to have spend a summer there in the island, I have enjoyed seeing your island and reading about it very much
Instant Fav Taffy this is so beautiful - what stunning light coming through!! Oh I have so enjoyed your stay on Beaver Island - I have learnt a lot so thank you!! I am looking forward to seeing your Chicago shots - another place I haven't been. Will you be going back to Beaver Island next summer or was this a one off trip?
This is another just outstanding sunset, Taffy! I like the darker colors to convey more of the 'bittersweet' idea. I don't general make that connection when I look at a sunset but in the context of your explanation in makes expressive sense.
@pamknowler Thanks for the kind comments, as always, Pam. I really appreciate your ongoing support! We spend every summer here -- we built our house (not literally of course, but Jim did design it) in 1991 when we were teaching at Michigan State and it was only a little over three hours to get here -- a great weekend place. But once we moved to Chicago, we shifted to just spending the summer and a few long fall weekends as it's too far to make it on a normal weekend. So it's made it all the more special to have the time here -- I just wish it had gone more slowly!
Just checking through your project after my vacation and found this amazing sunset. I do love the rays of light shing through the clouds. Just an amazing FAV
@jodimuli@wind_of_the_sothern_sea Thanks Joey and Arefin!! I saw your notes come in on email while I was working and am so excited to see the photos in with yours. What good company to be in. Many thanks!!
Congrats on a double TT with 2 amazing shots. Strange, I thought I had commented and faved this shot but it appears I haven't so it is a fav now for this wonderful shot!
@jankoos@elaine55@anazad511 I know I just sent you a thank you and it's a pain to go look at thank you notes, but I really really want you to know how much I've appreciated your support and wonderful comments and also the side comments that go beyond just the photo. I count you among my 365 friends -- so thank you again!
@pflaume Thanks so much, Lisa! No worries re being behind. It's fun to see your shots and catch up when we can. As the semester is getting closer, I'm going to have suddenly much less time to spend on 365 and am guessing I'll be perennially behind.
I love the sky (of course), but what draws my eye is the texture of the water as the sky connects to it--very dramatic and canvas like (with multiple media). Wonderful progression throughout. Love it. Instant fav.
@taffy You deserve it Taffy as you have been a great supporter of all of us and you truly have captured a moment in time with the love you express through your camera.
Thanks so much Kim and Kd! I appreciate your visit and comments!
Thank you so much for such wonderful comments (and favs) for my sunset! I so appreciate your visit and that you are enjoying Beaver Island images from my summer here.
Thank you my friends, for (re)visiting this photo and your wonderful comments and faves. I still can't believe it was on TT -- what an incredible thrill!
