This is a scene from Queens, looking across to midtown Manhattan, from a fantastic photo walk with the much respected Michael Elliott. Junko (@jyokota) and I are on our way to a conference in eastern PA and met with Michael tonight on our way. We've now walked about 8 hours so there will be more New York photos to post, but after all the walking, the travel here, and the 2 hours of sleep I had last night, this (and the shot from Central Park in my extras album: http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2013-10-10 ) is it for today. Many thanks to Michael for sharing his wonderful city and favorite photo spots with us today!
Three days of the conference, then back home late Sunday. Hoping to post and comment a bit while I'm away, but will likely catch up once home. Thank you all for your fun comments on Seeing Double, my zebras and the crazy patterns the two of them made! And thanks for sending "Walk Home...Look Up" to PP. I so value and appreciate your support!!
Fav of course. How long was the exposure? It doesn't say in the Exif info. It is one of my photographic ambitions to go on a photo walk with Michael :)
@thirtysevenways - Hey one of these days get to the City. Sorry for jumping in here Taffy but 37ways it was really interesting - something was wrong with Taffy's timer so she opened shutter and would count to 30 and then close it. Impressive!
Instant fav! Great reflevtion and such sharpness when viewed in black. Super shot, Taffy!
Wow, a 'private walk' with Mr. M! What more could you want in NY?!
Great skyline shot ! *Love* that you kept the exposure in check - all the lights in the windows are clearly defined and there are no blown out bits anywhere. Fav.
@michaelelliott and Tatty...I saw two pink reflections one after the other in my feed and thought 'wow' Then I read you met up for a great photo walk...awesome! Just gorgeous, Taffy....fav :)
You lucky dog. You got to hang out with Michael longer than I did. Were you feet killing you?? I LOVE this image and so wish that I had been there with you all. Megafav!!
@thirtysevenways Sorry for the delayed response -- I'm still really behind in commenting and responding while on the road. My camera kept returning to 8 seconds not matter what I was setting it at. Weird. And I needed a longer exposure, of course. This was stacked using three photos and HDR so I don't know exactly. What I was doing was using bulb and counting or using my phone timer to time it since my counting is uneven. This one was most like a combination of a 20 or so, a 30, and I do remember one of them was about 45 seconds because I wanted the rocks in the foreground to show up. And thanks for your kind comment (to Michael) and about my photo!
Beautiful city shot! Iconic view of the Empire State building. I have not had the pleasure of a ME city walk but I'm certain he is the best NYC guide in the world.
@joluise Thanks for the kind comment! The pink is for breast cancer awareness month. Many of the skyscrapers in Chicago have their lights pink for this month, making for a dramatic skyline. In NYC, I noticed mostly it was the Empire State Building.
what a stunner ... agree with 37ways .... this is high up in the next TT .... your city night shots are just something else .. wow .... I was curious about the shutter spped too ... but your response earlier helped .. huge FAV :-)
@friend2303 Vijay, you're such a wonderfully supportive 365 friend! I appreciate your extremely kind comment and hopes for TT. Michael has been my inspiration for the city shots I've taken at home and in NYC so I really appreciate the compliment.
Splendiferous Taffy! I absolutely love your composition the light and reflections! Definitely a fav! Congratulation on another PP and most likely another Top twenty!
What did I tell you Taffy? This would be #1 and I was right! Huge congrats! I take you to one of my top spots and bam! Haha Thx for showing my town so fabulously!
@michaelelliott OMG -- Michael, I thought you were being kind, but I NEVER thought it could be #1!! This is amazing!! What an incredible additional way to make an already wonderful photo walk simply out of this world. Thank you again!!!!

Wow Taffy what a fantastic shot, the colours, focus and reflections are superb! Even better on large! I am very envious that you managed a meet up with Mr Elliott! Haven't been on here for a while and was pleased to see you at #1 on TT. A fav!

Thanks so much Hettie, Cathy, and Ness. You have all been such wonderful supporters on 365 for me -- I really appreciate you views, comments, and good wishes -- for this and so many other times! I must say, I never dreamed I'd ever have a top twenty, much less a #1. It's quite a feeling!
What a great day!
