A document shot from today's adventure (and second shot for @Francoise and her get pushed challenge). Our 'guys' didn't get into NYC as planned and hoped, so Junko @jyokota and I were on our own for the day. A good day for indoor activity like shopping and getting some work done. But, despite the non-stop rain/sleet/snow, we ventured out tonight to TKTS, the site of deeply discounted tickets to fantastic Broadway theater. We saw No Man's Land with Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Billy Crudup and Shuler Hensley. Amazing experience! This photo was taken on the way to post-theater dinner at Shake Shack, home of the great 'shroom burger (portobello mushroom filled with cheese) topped off with ice cream and chocolate sauce. So not the romantic evening the guys had planned for us at a very different restaurant, but quite satisfying in its own way.
I was able to rebook to get home early Saturday instead of Sunday night, getting the last seat available for the day. Sad to leave NYC early, but glad to be heading home since Jim couldn't get here. Thank you for your wonderful comments on my NYC postings, and on my zoo polar bear shot in my b&w album. I'm resigned to being behind in viewing and commenting til I get back home, but trying to keep up with daily posting. I really appreciate your patience!
My "Splash-of-red" photo is in my b&w album: http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2014-02-13
And Junko's photo of me the same night is: http://365project.org/jyokota/365/2014-02-13
Oh sounds like you two had fun even without the guys but i understand very well why you want to get back to them, I´m gald you got the flight to make that happen.
So much to appreciate about this photo. The colors, reflections of the lights in the melting snow, the subject with camera and umbrella. Who wouldn't be taking pictures. Reminds me of a scene from "Blade Runner".
@Francoise Here's my other attempt. For this one, I thought of peopling what is clearly a city shot, rather than literally people against a skyline. I hope this also fits what you had in mind! It's definitely been a fun challenge. And I do think it's hard to photograph people!
Sounds like you had a great evening! I'm not liking the look of the weather in this but I did have to smile at the camera+umbrella management - why has no one come up with a good solution to this problem yet? Safe journey home.

Even with the snow and stuff, which usually makes things all gray and boring, this is bright and cheerful looking. So your husband was trying to get t here, but could not? was that due to weather?
Great capture and memory of you trip to NY. Thanks for the travelogue, that's a place on my bucket list. Sorry your trip wasn't quite what you had planned.
@taffy What caught my eye first about this picture : the way the pinkish snow and the lady's skirt being similar and then both of these stop the river of color flowing down the street. It's a rich picture in that there are lots of things to look at, including things that are not even in the picture, like "how is the photographer protecting her camera."
Well, now you can say you've visited the city during a significant snow storm. They don't happen all that often! Glad you two were able to create your own fun.
Thinking about get-pushed. I love this photo but it doesn't show much of Junko. I can't see many portraits in your album and most of the ones there, like the great black and white one of the piper are candid. So building on from last week's challenge is it possible to take a portrait of someone but not a candid shot? Something you set up a little and they are aware that you are going to take it. How does that sound?
@rachelwithey Great get-pushed. I do like portrait work but so rarely do it. Now to find a willing subject! Without my dog, and with a photo-reluctant hubby, it will be the biggest part of the challenge! Working on yours today.
Obviously a little rain won't stop you from taking photos......nice covering.
