It was beautiful outside but I was inside working. I looked outside wistfully and in the distance, saw a very strange object quite aways off. By the time I grabbed my camera and put the lensbaby on it, ran outside to get a photo of the object, it had come pretty close and I had a clear view -- what a surprise!
Thanks for the inspiration @amandal ! http://365project.org/amandal/365-year-2/2014-07-12
@silver_fox Thanks for the kind words! I'm liking it more than when I started. I think the change of attitude came from (a) figuring out how to use in my own style, (b) getting better at figuring out how to focus (e.g., can't wear my glasses, change the diopter thing on the viewfinder), and (c) not feeling that every photo warrants using it and being selective about when to put it on my camera. I know some use it almost as a walkabout to great effect, but for me, it's going to likely remain a once-in-a-while lens that can be a lot of fun. I also have learned the one I bought is a tricky one to use -- but it was a lot less in cost than the easier ones so I'm okay with it now that I know it better.
@silver_fox Do you follow @thomastoth? I found his comments on the thread Hope posted about the new lensbaby, and his album, to be one of the most helpful sources. He uses Canon, but I think from what I've read of his comments, it's applicable to us Nikon users as well. He also uses it for a range of topics/themes including architecture and others where the scene, while blurred, still has a sense of reality. Mostly in his Year 2 album. Also, check out Hope's thread: http://365project.org/discuss/general/22977/new-lens-baby
What a great capture, Taffy. Love your processing and the use of your lens baby. You have way more patience with it than I would and will get very used to it. FAV
Hello! I'm your get pushed partner this week. I'm already an admirer of your work and know that you are a very talented photographer, so I'm going to give you a little tougher challenge than usual. I would like you to attempt a levitation shot. Someone gave me that challenge a month or so ago and this video helped me learn the technique: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7YQ7Q1TZVY (using Gimp), but you may have other tricks up your sleeve. Hope you have fun.
@blueberry1222 What a fun challenge - I don't know that I can do it, but I'll certainly give it a try! I'll work on figuring out yours later today or tomorrow at the latest.
@taffy okay, thanx. I have every confidence that you'll be able to figure it out. The technique really isn't all too difficult, just involves taking two photos. One with the object ( of what ever you want to 'levitate') and a second one without it. Not so bad...
great capture Taffy. so the umbrella has no handle? funny, reminds me of the one I caught in Tokyo when someone lost track of their umbrella - caught it with my lensbaby too!
