An annual event on Beaver Island is "Baroque on Beaver"- a musical festival with varied concerts (like the jazz event I posted on Tuesday). Saturday night was the first ever outdoor, tent performance, with full orchestra. Theme that night was American - Irving Berlin, Copeland, Sousa, etc. Some boats had moored together in the harbor to listen. As the sun set, I left the tent area and went over to the harbor to photograph (even the festival photographer was over there, rather than where the orchestra was playing). This is the same lone tree I'd taken on July 5th - http://365project.org/taffy/365/2014-07-05 - in late afternoon. Nice to see it had a visitor last night.
Wow, this is a stunning shot and definite fav for me. I'm your get pushed partner this week and after having a quick look through your album (I will have a longer look later because it looks amazing) my challenge to you is to take a photograph of someone you don't know or if this isn't possible because there are no strangers around (I read in your profile that you spend summers on a small island) then I'd like you to experiment with negative space. Have fun and I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
If you could still hear the music this must have added to the magic of the moment. Love your challenge above, think the negative space would be really interesting.
@joeymc Had a laugh about strangers! Too bad it wasn't last week with the festival as I would have had lots of options! Maybe I can hang out at the beach and find some strangers there. Otherwise, negative space will be fun to use. I'll have your challenge to you shortly!
What a fabulous shot, Taffy. FAV I am so in envious. Would love to be at a concert like you enjoyed. My son plays in a Jazz Band at our local JC. Love Jazz and most live band music. What a fun evening and a beautiful place to have a concert/orchestra.
