Junko and I had to disappointingly cancel our planned photo trip to Washington DC. But all was not lost as we had a great day in Evanston and north suburbs eventually ending at the Bahai Temple which is a photographer's dream. I'll probably post from this for the next few days...not DC monuments, but it's what I have for now. This was taken with a fisheye lens and processed in Aurora software.
Junko posted her end-of-shoot night shot where you can see the temple glowing. Still working on mine -- that will likely be tomorrow's. Here's Junko's: http://365project.org/jyokota/365/2016-01-21
And an alternative of the sunset with the temple behind me: http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2016-01-21
@jyokota Photo 1 from our evening shoot. Probably will be more over the next few days if my camera goes in for repair! What a great day, even if not the original plan.
This is so amazingly beautiful, more so for your unique way of seeing it! I've flown over it on every trip to (or is it out of) Chicago, but I've never seen it from this gorgeous perspective!
Love this Taffy! I am learning a lot from your fisheye shots! This building really suits this effect! Beautiful image! Fav! What a shame you had to cancel the DC visit.
A wonderful fish-eye image for this gorgeous building. The fish eye makes the stairs appear as though they are draping, like a graceful skirt. Bummer about missing Washington... maybe Evanston is a consolation prize?;)
@paulaw I find that I get it right about 1 in 10 times. There is so much that can go wrong with a fish-eye, and it's so easy to be off by only an inch and mess up the shot. It is fun to use, though. Thanks as always for your visits and comments.
That is so cool! I was wondering about you being in D.C. as I watched the snow "disaster" play out on TV. Actually you would have captured some very unique shots of the monuments that would not be easily reproduced. Opportunities lost.
@stray_shooter We did think about that, but in the end, the unique opportunity potentially came without power/heat and we'd just have been two more people needing help. And could have been stuck for awhile. So disappointing not to be able to get the shots, but a wiser decision in the end.
To me, it almost looks like a helmet of a giant warrior, photographed from this perspective. The fisheye does magical things to subjects, and in this case - makes it look full of mystery and dominate the scene.
I love this photo with your fisheye. Would love to take photos with you but would be so far behind. I agree with Maggiemae above, this photo is perfectly balanced. FAV
