The Falls present any number of unusual photo opportunities of the falls, the river, and the riverside in winter. Several of these trees aligned the walkway that is available for viewing the falls on the Canadian side. You can see the Horseshoe Falls (the curved ones to the right in the diptych posted yesterday) beyond the tree and walkway -- that's what the rainbow is over, probably because of the steam and mist that rises up.
That's so cool! I can't imagine being there in the winter. There was still ice on the American side, which wasn't really open yet other than the observation tower/bridge thing) on Victoria Day weekend just before Memorial Day.
So cool! Actually So COLD! That tree with the icicles is amazing, especially with that beautiful wrought iron fencing behind it and of course the rainbow!
So beautiful Taffy! The ice on the tree hanging out with the wind is great and looks so good with the rainbow as a backdrop! It was May 19th 15 years ago when I was there and it was a warm summer's day! Definitely tea shirt weather. Hard to believe it changes in such a short time! It was Victoria Day and there was a parade - such wonderful memories! Fav!
@michaelelliott Thanks Michael! I was actually in the passenger seat of the car shooting these, as we were avoiding the police patrolling and giving tickets. So, toasty and warm through this series of shots. MUCH colder down by the falls where our fingers were totally numb. Spring will be here soon, though!
@vera365 Thanks Vera. I was pretty excited that the combination worked out as I had to take it from a car since there were no legal places to park the car.
Such a brave and spectacular shot!
Great shot.
