As @feniceb and I strolled across the bridge on our walk to Canada (I love writing that), we had a spectacular view of the two main sections of Niagara Falls, bisected by the observation tower. While I wish it weren't there, the teeny people on it along with the boat provide useful metrics for the scale of the Falls. The shots we took this past winter were from that deck. At the time, the park was almost empty - not yesterday!
Posting early as I'm guessing this will be a long day without time for photography.
Wow, this is beautiful, Taffy! I've never seen a shot of the Falls from this angle before. Great composition, and I love seeing the amazing power of that water.
We went a couple years ago for our wedding anniversary and stayed in the Canadian side. I was so pretty. When they asked why you were crossing the boarder did you say to photograph the falls ?
I love the falls and I have wonderful memories of being on the boat Maid of the mist with my sister and my best friend Ann Marie who sadly died two years later. Such a powerful experience!! Great capture showing those tiny people and the boat to give perspective!! Fav!!
That is quite the structure. I agree, it takes away from the scene, but does give it perspective. You must be exhausted after walking all the way to Canada! :)
What an excellent shot of the scale here and the abundant water and mist... Whenever I have been here, it is the mist which is the most difficult to capture and as soon as I saw it, I had a visceral recall of it. Nice job
I love that you could walk to Canada. :) The tiny people really give these magnificent, powerful falls such a sense of scale. What a great view! I have not been to the Canada side, so this is very fun to see.
@summerfield I didn't realize you were that close!! We were only at the falls about 30 minutes total as I had to drive so far that evening, but we talked about my coming back when I could spend an afternoon/evening in Buffalo/Niagara. Fingers crossed!
Did you do "Behind the Falls" one of my favorite shots was from there. Also are you staying overnight. The night lights and the morning sunrise can be amazing.
Love this shot, it really has a story to tell. The tiny images of the people really emphasise the vastness of the falls and I can almost hear the rush of the water. You have captured the atmosphere so well.
I know what you mean about lots of people in this shot, but they do serve a useful purpose in this case. I like the shot very much, completely different pov than any I've seen previously.
Great shot of the Falls. I've yet to see them with ice- so I'm hoping next winter to do that. If and when you go back let me know as my son lives not too far from them so I might be able to swing up there and meet you!! Vikki and I have met up at the Falls several times. @summerfield If we meet Taffy at the Falls, that would be the time to take a helicopter flight!!
A very interesting perspective. The people and boat do illustrate the scale of the size of the falls well.
A visit here is on my bucket list. It would be wonderful to meet up with other 365ers to boot.
This is a very impressive shot and I love to see the people and the boat which giving it perspective. The falls are quite massive. The only thing I've seen which could rival this are the Iguazu Falls in Argentina/Brazil. How cool too to be able to say that you 'walked to Canada'! :-)

@snaggy
One day i'll go there myself!
