A key period in Beaver Island's history saw 'war' between the Irish and Mormon settlers. The Irish drove the Mormons out of the area and are the dominant cultural group on the island today (Emerald Isle Ferry, Shamrock Bar, etc.). In fact the Historical Museum is housed in what was the Mormon Print Shop. Mormon dwellings dot the island, remnants of farms of yesteryear.
Thanks for your lovely comments on my smiling frog and meandering goose! Always appreciated!
Lovely piece of history thank you Taffy. What a pity different religions can't just live side-by-side peacefully. The old building looks like it was built in drop-log style though somewhat different from examples I've seen here. Few, if any, nails needed.
