The Big Dipper Peaks Through by taffy

The Big Dipper Peaks Through

The clouds never cleared for the meteor shower, but there was a brief moment when they parted enough to reveal the Big Dipper. While disappointed not to photograph the meteor shower or the milky way or some other spectacular night sky, at least I had something!
Thanks for your kind words for yesterday's shot of the colorful cloudy sky.
Fabulous,

My sky looked very similar to this tonight. Where are the meteors? I was standing outside the front of my house looking up to the stars when a man walked by with his dog. He asked if I was ok! I had to laugh and gave up my star gazing! A lovely image showing the clouds moving across the sky.

Sure enough... the Big Dipper. Clear as a bell. The moving clouds before it are lovely.

Shame about the meteor shower, but this is a fabulous substitute.

Fav. Makes you romantic doesn't it? I have never managed to capture the stars - probably because I don't have the correct lens.

I just looked at your settings, and see this was a 15 second exposure. Amazing how far the clouds move in that time! Love those stars peeking through.

The photo club is holding a night-sky workshop in Sept. and I can't wait. I hope we have a clear night as I so want to be able to pictures like this! It's beautiful!

That's gorgeous, Taffy! Unfortunately I may never be rested enough to go out late, and by the time I'm back in SoCal, it's a well-known fact we have no night sky...

(Check out tonight's dessert, Mz Chocolate-lover!)

Oh, you did well, it was all cloudy here in Bangkok as well as far to much light!

@olivetreeann Good luck -- so much depends on weather but it's great fun.
