I've enjoyed the few weeks of landscape work but have to admit that I REALLY was happy being back in the city and photographing tonight. We were lucky enough to be invited to an event in the "Crown" of the Tribune building from sunset into the evening. This was taken across the street looking up at the Wrigley building just before the event started when we got there a bit early. Can't wait to process the sunset and night shots! I'm posting this first as my shot for tomorrow (I think) is going to be looking across (not up, actually looking down) at the top of this building at night.
PS Wrigley building - same family as Wrigley Field where the Chicago Cubs play, the team that has not won a championship in 108 years, the team that currently is in 1st place but that doesn't mean they will win (bad luck to even think they have a chance).
For more context, this is the building in the left foreground in this image: http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2016-10-04
@maggiemae Yes, that was the family! They made a fortune on that and other things, but were a Chicago family, like the Palmers, Pritzkers, McCormicks, Marshall Fields, etc.
Super POV, with that triangular bit of sky and the upward lines. Don't tell Cardinal Nation, but now I am rooting for the Cubs (secretly, so they are not jinxed).
Wow your pov is wonderful! Sounds like a fantastic evening! Great news about the Cubs still in 1st place! I am their newest supporter and hope they stay up there! When does the season end? Huge Fav for your fab image!
@pamknowler Playoff games start this weekend. There's a round of playoffs for the division, then the league, then the series (division is the league east and west, league is National vs American, then the winner of the two leagues play each other for the series). It goes on for awhile IF we keep winning. But we don't talk of winning as that's the jinx. That and something about a goat...
@kwind Thanks Kim...no tripod (I didn't think it would be appropriate at the reception so had to do everything handheld or balanced on a ledge. For this one, I sort of held my camera to my forehead and leaned my head against the window (icky!).
@taffy The Palmers had a winter estate down here in Florida in the town I live in. Honore Palmer is a beloved name from the past, there is a street named after her. The estate on the water is called Spanish Pointe and is a beautifully maintained park that is the location of many weddings and large events.
