The moon was really beautiful but I couldn't get the lighting to work - either blown out moon or dark city below. So, I did two separate shots and combined them. Loving being able to leave down coat and boots behind for a few weeks!
And thank you for putting my 'missing the train, getting the shot' onto TT this week - very exciting!
Lucky you. This turned out great. One possible suggestion...I wonder re making the moon just a tiny bit more yellow/ orange given that the reflection is a bit warmer. By the way, I changed my elephant picture after your and Junko's comments about the feet. I'd love you to look at it and give any further thoughts
Beautiful! I agree with @jgpittenger about the moon tones. Still, a tempting and lovely shot. I like the Flickr version incrementally more. Enjoy the warmth!:)
@jgpittenger@rosiekerr Figured out a way to do this in picmonkey so I wouldn't have to repost or replace and lose comments. It's as close as I could get to the version on Flickr that I did with LR.
Fabulous image!! I wish I was standing there beside you in the warmth!! Have a wonderful holiday and especially enjoy your time with Junko!! Congratulations on yet another TT!! Fav!
I believe that is the only way to do it. Since the light reflected by the moon is so bright the camera will compensate at the city lights and reflection will be underexposed. If you expose for the lights the moon will be blown out. Beautifully done Taffy! HUGE FAV!
@skipt07 Thanks Skip -- I've noticed over the few days we have been here that lighting (moon/sun/land/sea) is going to be the hardest part of photographing here.
congratulations on the TT.
you combined them very good
