Waiting for the Train to Depart by taffy

Waiting for the Train to Depart

I am cleaning up my hard drive from 2014 as part of an ongoing effort to consolidate photos. I spent a big part of the day distracted by photos from a work/play trip to Australia where I really could see the difference 2.5 years has made in my processing skills. I didn't know what to do with this image 3 years ago but today, I immediately knew why I had taken it -- I just didn't know it back then!
I love it! I know what you mean about a sobering trip into the past...but I am sure you also uncovered a lot of gems like this!

Great POV I like how you've lined the rails up with the edges of the frame :)

Your processing skills may have improved Taffy but from this shot we can see you have always had a great eye for an image! Wonderful leading line! Great image which is perfect for the b&w theme! Fav!

Yes it is very cool. I look at many of my photos from years ago and some I was so proud of I think are horrible and then there are potential gems that I just didn't recognize. This is one of your gems

Such a great shot - the angle, the close focus and the faraway scene all add to the atmosphere.

@myhrhelper Exactly what I'm going through. Some I had marked with 5 stars that I actually would delete today!

It is quite a process looking back, seeing what you didn't yet know consciously but somehow did. Nice edit to bring the lines and textures out

Love the pov and dof.................great in b&w!
February 21st, 2017
@cjphoto That was originally what drew me to the shot -- the combination of the people and train and the long empty track. Thanks as always for your visits/comments!
February 21st, 2017
Great perspective- did you lay down on the tracks? I need to go through old photos but just don't have the time!
February 21st, 2017
@loweygrace Haha!! I don't remember, but I'm pretty confident I didn't lie down on that -- maybe kneeled or put the camera low and used Live View? Too hard to get up, even a few years ago!

Love the commentary, I'd wager a guess that those observations apply to many of us here on 365. I can certainly put up my hand to the same conclusions. I like the shot anyway, must've been a very quiet piece of line to be able to shoot from that pov. And with your eye you captured a whole story in one shot. Adelaide?

What a great shot. I am not the photographer you are but have kept a lot of my old photos too and hope to play with some, someday as well. Love this in B&W. FAV
