First time I was ever on a boat on Niagara River -- getting amazingly close to the base of the falls (too close for a camera at one point!). It was majestic -- really had to convey the power of the roar from the falls, the spray of the mist, the birds flying about and calling out. We were so lucky to have a beautiful day with these white fluffy clouds too.
Indoor day today of meetings, so even more appreciative of the group outing that had been planned!
UPDATE: #1 on TT
Seeing those tiny people at the top really puts the power of this waterfall into perspective. What a great capture of the powerfulness. Beautiful colors, too! Hey, I thought you went on a work trip!
As Junko said the people at the top give this shot a sense of scale! Nicely captured and the spray shows the power. I have done the boat trip twice, it is hard to convey what is actually like in a photograph, because part of the power is from the roar of the water, and the spray of the water that you feel on your skin even when you are a distance away from the falls.
Great capture of Niagara from the water! I did the boat trip a couple years ago. The thunder of the falls, the spray when you get in close and all the birds make it an experience to remember. In fact, i remember there was so much spray it was impossible to even get a shot until we were a distance away.
Fabulous POV Taffy! I'm so pleased you have done this as I remember vividly when I went on the boat 16 years ago! It's impossible to capture that feeling of power - it made me cry! Huge fav!
I remember that feeling. Instead of the camera, I was holding on to a kid though :) I have to revisit - now that he would be able to hold to the boat on his own!
@bill_fe It would be fun to meet here sometime. This time, I'm here for our leadership retreat, so going on the boat was all about bonding opportunities and not photography. It's an amazing area for photography so I'd love to come back!
Lovely image. Brings back memories of a trip we made over to the Falls when I was 50. Then we had all the fun of walking across the Rainbow Bridge with our suitcases, walking from Canada to America! Hated the town but just couldn't get enough of looking at this glorious set of waterfalls and listening to the roar of the water. You made me smile.
What a gorgeous photo, Taffy. Lucky you to see it in person. I can imagine the power of the falls. Never have been there but have been lucky to see amazing photos on 365. Just read the first comment and looked again. Wow, it is huge compared to the people standing above. FAV
Will go there one day :)
