I'm happy to have arrived at this point in Andie's @ukandie1 and my walk. We went around the Bean (aka officially Cloud Gate) taking photos from different points of view. I decided to post this one first as it gives a context for what the Bean looks like as you walk up to it from the east with the skyline behind it. The reflections of course are more interesting from the other side. Holiday weekend ahead!
Here's Andie's b&w treatment -- love how differently they look! https://365project.org/ukandie1/365/2017-12-23
@ukandie1 We made it to the Bean! I'm assuming this was the next stop...and then the tree...and then the colonnade ... and then the theater? This was sort of a two-fer as the tree is visible.
I wonder what the idea of having a large bean in the middle of a city is? Encouraging vegetarianism? Or perhaps growth? The bean grows into a large plant! Makes a pretty night exposure!
Such a great city scene - love the colors and starbursts! Those buildings are so beautiful all lit up. Must be quite a sight when you are right there. Fav.
A fantastic night shot with so much to look at. I like the curved lines of the Bean against the straight and angular lines of the background buildings.
@skipt07 It's original title, Cloud Gate, I think is about the reflection, but The Bean is what it looks like and that's the name that stuck. I'm guessing Boston is eating its heart out!
This was my fav angle of the been at night too, I love how it shows off the bean with the context of the city behind it. But so as to not duplicate yours I am going to post a fill the frame shot, just having an inner battle between the color shot and the mono at the moment!
@ukandie1 You should post the one you want to have in your album! I have about 2 more Bean shots I'd like to post if we 'hang out' in this spot another day. We HAVE to go to the Pier one night!! LOTS to photograph there if it's warm enough!
@taffy I totally agree about Navy Pier. As you may well know they are like the tripod police there, so you have to just plead ignorant and be a little sneaky. There is a great shot to be had from on top of the parking garage, I just have to remember how to get to it. I took a shot from there back in 2015 https://365project.org/ukandie1/365/2015-09-22
Your photos are always amazing. I can leave here for a while and come back and know what is yours without seeing your name. Great photo with so much detail. The lighting is amazing as always. FAV
Beautiful composition! FAV!
