Worthy of the delay to dinner to set up my tripod, turning off all interior light sources in hopes of catching the moon over the city and reflecting on Lake Michigan. Turned out I could get the moon and the city or the city and the reflected light on the lake, but couldn't do both in the same shot.
Thank you for your wonderful comments on my fisheye of the stairs. I agree with those who thought it looked like Escher or Hogwarts!
Wonderful as always! I'm struck each time I look at one of your citvscapes that it's almost impossible to believe that we live on the same planet. Taking a peak outside the front door I can see one light from a cottage several hundred metres across the fields... we do share the same moon though - at least, I think we do.
Just erased my comment. Definitely worth having dinner wait. I really like the contrast between signs of human inhabitants and nature and the way it seems as if the moon is lighting up the tower on right. Nice one
I feel very privileged to share the superb views you have from your eyrie Taffy. This is a stunning shot, definitely worth delaying dinner. Incredible sight.
It's terribly hard to get enough light on both with detail, isn't it? I love your result here. The moon is lovely, but it is the multi colours in all the windows that I find so interesting. It's like a rainbow mosaic.
The moon's in a position of strength in the composition and my thought was also that the shapes, lights and colours of the windows make the image reminiscent of a mosaic.
Great night capture, as always.
Taffy, your nightscapes are always a delight and this one with the moon is especially detailed and well composed. Thanks for sharing your spectacular view on the world with us.
@louannwarren Wish it were Sean Connery! Instead, window washers appear once in a while outside our windows...which even when warned, we tend to forget and it's quite a shock to see someone looking in!
@vignouse Can you get a clear night sky in your area, without all the ambiant lighting? That's one thing I miss about being in a city -- we rarely can see a single star in the sky.
I'd like to see a composite of this and the reflection in the lake.
Great night capture, as always.
