Retro Processing and New Discoveries: A Glacier in Iceland
Will be off and on for the next month on the site, due to ongoing camera challenges as well as travels and visitors. My major birthday has just passed. Celebrated entering a new decade by spending the day with @jyokota who gave me the ideal present: an almost 3 hour tutoring session (online with expert in Lightroom) who helped me sort out the mess of my catalogue from the crash in March of 2017 after our Iceland trip. And taught us both about how much more we have to learn about workflow in Lightroom (and on top of that perfect present, she baked me chocolate chip cookies AND took me to lunch!). A great day! So I have been combining, eliminating, reorganizing the catalogue -- discovering almost 500GB of duplicate and delete-able files in the process. As well as finding some treasurers I didn't even remember I had and were worth processing (not deleting), like this one that I felt captures the magic that is Iceland.
Oh, how fantastic! I hadn't realised it was a special birthday! How kind and considerate of Junko to offer you those gifts. Friends. We all need them, don't we?! Lovely image too!
Thank you for being so appreciative! I laughed when I saw the almost three hours because it truly was. 7 minutes less than three hours. But we learned a LOT in that time and most of all I feel inspired to clean up my catalog and get it ready for lesson 2 some time. This is a wonderful shot from Iceland and I love the clarity of the structure. I haven’t looked at the ones taken on that rental camera because those files were so enormous I had to import them into aperture. Now you’ve inspired me to look for them.
Sounds like the perfect birthday! Junko really spoiled you and I am sure you both had a wonderful time with your LR course! So much to learn! Are you off on your Safari soon?
What a brilliant gift! And happy birthday, dear Taffy. Big numbers are great things. They mean you are still here! Love this Iceland shot. Really want to visit sometime.
@jgpittenger It went back today. The Z6 should be sent out tomorrow. Fingers crossed that the Z6 is the right choice and doesn't have the problems I ran into. It was so discouraging that I've barely taken a picture in the past few weeks! But in a way, it's worked out as I've had so much to do to get my drive cleaned off. Hoping to start the new year with everything cleaned up and functioning!
Incredible shot and what a great way to celebrate a special birthday! Iceland is on my bucket list and I have started thinking about planning for the best time of year to encounter the Aurora. That timing is tricky of course.
Happy Belated Birthday and what a great gift. Wish we could all sit in a room and clean up photos and get organized. I am not organized due to changes on my MAC photos a few years ago that I never figured out so I have lots of duplicates and a bit of a mess. Enjoy being organized. Great photo by the way.
