Ropes on a ship are called lines, sails are called sheets, bathrooms are heads, etc. It was fun learning new vocabulary. I was fascinated by the existence and importance of the many varied lies. Color, placement, pulleys, crank-gear-things, ways of handling excess rope which quickly disappears when a sail changes position, all of these make lines perhaps one of the most important aspects of sailing equipment and knowledge. These are just a portion of images I took of them over the course of the 10 days.
Thanks for putting my first diving pelican on TT - more to come!
What a mind boggling number of colours, types and uses of ropes - it must take a lot of practice to be able to use them effortlessly! It makes such an interesting collage. :0
