This was my last shot of the day and my favorite as Big Bird made Little Bird get away from the corn kernels. He did NOT want to share!
Jim and I drove up to Montrose Harbor on the north side of the city, a place known by birders around the world for its "Magic Hedge." This reclaimed area juts out into Lake Michigan and serves as a landing spot for migratory birds. It was GREAT to be outdoors, on a warm sunny day, taking photos that are not the photos I've taken for the past several months. I cannot believe what a mood-enhancer it was to get outside in a new area and feel totally comfortable. I'm not much of a bird photographer (it's VERY hard, I find!), so it's exciting to have bird images to work with.
Here's a link, including a video, about the park for those interested.
The expression on those two faces is fantastic - definitely tells the story that you caught so well. Glad to hear you had a good day - something different definitely perks you up!
Amazing photo. Fav. Nice that you and Jim are able to get out and see new places again. I was glad that the CDC said it was safe to travel again, with restrictions.
Stunning capture of both birds Taffy! How wonderful it sounds that you and Jim were able to get out to a different location! Such a treat to get out and do something different!
A spectacular capture of the moment ! the expression and stance of the two birds tells it all - The big angry bird has such magnificent iridescent colour feather while the poor little one is dowdy and dull . Big fav
You did a wonderful job of capturing the iridescent colors of the starling. The photo definitely has a mood with the larger bird scaring off the smaller one.
Wonderful detail and tells a great story
