Junko introduced me to a 'meetup' group of birders and we had a wonderful time today walking through Lincoln Park North and South ponds. Have been reminded that this is a green heron. I'm so impressed with birders' knowledge of all the varieties!
Funny you would post this shot. Today I saw a Black Crowned Night Heron. He was brought into the wildlife refuge I volunteer at. No one had ever seen one before. Love the colours of your shot.
Aren't these interesting birds? Nice light on those dark feathers. Here's one I saw in February in Venice, FL where there is a rookery right off the main road. http://365project.org/falcon11/365/2021-02-17
