Today, for a split second, a red-tailed hawk landed on our balcony and then immediately took off. I couldn't get a photo, but decided to mark this most unusual happening by working on a hawk photo for posting, putting in place what I've learned in class this semester (last class is tomorrow). So, this involved: (a) initial edits in LR, then (b) exporting to PS, (c) making the canvas bigger on the right hand side so the bird wasn't so "crowded," (d) using adjustments for color balance, hue/saturation, brightness/contrast, (e) substituting a similarly lit sky to avoid any unevenness from extending the canvas and cloning the original sky, (f) levels adjustment, and (g) reimporting to LR and exporting as a jpg. It's been satisfying learning to handle layers and adjustments at last - it's taken a few years!
Original photo was taken in New Mexico in November 2022.
Well done. I have to say I have been meaning to learn how to use PS for several years but it all looks too complicated, perhaps I should take the plunge and go on a course as well?
