Movement 1 by taffy

Movement 1

No need to comment. I'm experimenting this week for ETSOOI-22 Motion. Inspired by Jo's work with trees ( http://365project.org/jo13/365/2013-10-27) ( @jo13), and using what I think were similar settings (low ISO, smallest aperture setting, shutter between 1 - 3 seconds. But, I ended up moving more quickly up and down and I was working with trees that had a lot of branches. I kept editing to try to bring out some of the tree structure and convey the very blue sky and beach in the background. I wish I had tried earlier as it was convenient being in the middle of the woods! I'll have to find a park with some trees now that I'm back in an urban setting.
good shot Taffy, I tried this, it's harder than I thought,

@ness50 I agree! SOO much harder! I can appreciate @jo13 's image so much more now.

very cool

Very cool - I feel like I am behind a waterfall looking through the water into the forest beyond.

The shot gives the impression of a trunk covered in ice. Very interesting capture.

it is a beautiful image Taffy

This is an arresting image. I like the blues and effect of shinyness that the blur creates.

FAV! Love this effect - great entry for the competition.

I've tried this a few times... it is much more difficult that you would think! I like the progression of colours, makes a cool abstract.

Keep trying Taffy it is just a matter of trial and error really, I had another go yesterday http://365project.org/jo13/365 and got a result I am quite pleased with, I'm going to give it another go as I like the effect and want to see how much more I can get out of it. You are definitely on the right track and I like how the light sparkles through the trees.

interesting effect
October 29th, 2013
This is cool -- but I;m confused because it looks like trees behind a waterfall. How did you capture movement to look like water?
October 29th, 2013
Like this very much

Love the abstract - the lines and gradient of color are appealing.

Beautiful. I must try this, really good of you to explain how you did it.

Lovely

Cool effect -- and thanks for sharing your process!

@gailmmeek Thanks for the fav, Gail! I really appreciate it.

@jyokota I was shooting into the light and using such a low aperture that it sparkled. As I edited the shot, I brought up the white and sparkles to make it look like water. But it was really just a blown out sky.

@taffy -- thanks for explaining the mystery!
October 30th, 2013
Stunning!I thought it was a water wall!
October 30th, 2013
@mzzhope THanks Hope! That's also what Junko had thought. It was one of about 30 I had taken. This really is so much harder than I thought it would be!

Very interesting technique, that provokes trying it. I like the results.
October 30th, 2013
Really love the light in this.
October 30th, 2013
A whispery, watery quality to this one.
October 30th, 2013
There's a nice touch of magic to this one

@anazad511 Thanks Ana! It's been fun playing around with it, and it surprised me to see how hard it is (and the role luck plays to some extent). You should give it a try -- I bet you'll end up with some great images.

@northy Thanks Northy! I appreciate the visit and vote of confidence. These are such fun ones to do. I had hoped to do a b&w one today but weather didn't cooperate.

A very interesting effect, and much better viewed large- would make a very interesting addition to a wall.
