Potoooooooo

Day 24 - Barcaldine to Roma

100kms further south from Blackall is the small town of Tambo, population abt 360. Once again, Tambo is as neat as a pin and is the home of the Tambo Teddy. (I'll leave you to Google that but you may like to have a look at https://365project.org/terryliv/365/2015-07-04 )

It is also the home of this sculpture by the local Tambo artist and grazier, Pip Fearon, of the racehorse Potoooooooo. It took her 50-60 hours to make and is constructed from locally sourced hardwood timber, predominantly gidyea collected on Ivanhoe Station, Tambo. It weighs about 300kgs.

For anyone who collects teddy bears or just loves them, a Tambo Teddy is a must. They are hand made from pure merino wool and each one is personalised with its own name which includes the property where the wool was sourced from and number.

Rhoda fell in love with them and bought one when we overnighted there in 1998. We have also given one to each of our grandkids to celebrate their arrival into this world. See https://365project.org/terryliv/365/2015-07-04 and

They should have had a teddy bear instead of a horse!

Love the wooden horse - a teddy bear should be the jockey :)
