I had no intentions of posting pics of the Cockies tonight. I had planned a couple of night shots but thought I should have something as a reserve just in case and the White Cockatoos in the back yard were it. Just as well because they were all I ended up with.
I actually like this one very much with the sun shining on him against the black background.
Best on black
Enlarged your Cockatoo is even more awesome! The way you caught the light hitting the head and the focus there is terrific. How great those wings show against the black. Love this shot. Fav
@tomtom For many years, we never had them around at all. Then gradually they started to live in the trees around the Mt Cootha gardens ( I think they came in at the height of the drought) and we would always laugh at them when we drove along the western Freeway.
Then when work started on the construction of Legacy Way, they were all displaced and we started getting them flying around the residential areas. Being the nut cases we are, we put out seed for them (we were already feeding the lorikeets) and, well, the rest is history. They are now in the yard everyday. Some of them are very quiet.

The cicadas get deafeningly loud here too on occasion. Noisy little buggers.
