The Raconteur

Every night after dinner, John (tour leader/driver)would read a poem or regale us with a story from his trusty old book of poems and stories of the outback.
As I have said to someone already, despite his heavy workload and responsibilities on tour, He was just about the most relaxed and laid back man I have ever met. Nothing seemed to get his heart rate above 40bpm.
That is his Canon complete with a 16-300mm Tamron lens on the table. Pinned up around the inside of the bus were some fabulous wild life and landscape shots he had taken during his many tours.

Not quite your typical poet image :)

This is a wonderful portrait. I love how his hat reflects the light--perfect because he is the leader. My brother-in-law has taken us deep into the Carlsbad Caverns and had us all turn off our headlamps. In the total darkness, he regales us with stories of hodags. http://scribol.com/anthropology-and-history/where-the-wild-things-are-the-legend-behind-the-hodag

A laid-back tour guide would surely inspire a spirit of relaxation.
