John and Chris by terryliv

John and Chris

For our last morning, we had John and Chris pose in front of their work assignment for tomorrow - cleaning the bus. It was certainly a lot dirtier than it was on the morning we left Alice Springs 15 days ago.

John and Chris have been doing outback tours (Kimberley, Cape York, Gulf Country, Central Oz) for 15 years and are looking to retire to their cattle property outside of Maryborough Qld in a few years time. When they do retire, there is a good chance that OzTours will have to drop this particular tour, and perhaps others, since they wont be able to find another couple with the knowledge, skills and experience who are prepared to take it on.
So if anyone out there in 365 land thinks they would like to do this tour (and I would highly recommend it) you probably have only a couple of years to do it. The 3 tracks tour only operates once a year and I am not aware of any other company that offers one a similar.

Hope you helped them wash it :)

Great shot Terry. Sad to see such an iconic operation fold. I totally agree, all that knowledge can't be replaced. Do they have kids that could take it on ??

If the tour does end, this photo will be a classic. I'm glad you and Rhoda got to enjoy it with such experts who made it so much fun.

Knowing the opportunity to make this trip with these knowledgeable, capable people is dwindling makes your journey all the more special, yes?

Great shot and a fabulous advert for OzTours too. Are they giving you a discount on your next trip.

Always sad when good things come to an end. I will never be able to do this trip for myself but am so pleased you have shared this wonderful trip with us. Thank you I have enjoyed it enormously. This is a lovely shot of two very special people.

@lyndemc I hadn't thought of it like that Denise but you are right. And you can add "passionate" to that list of adjectives.
We are already counting ourselves very fortunate since Outback Spirit no longer offers the particular itinerary for the Kimberley trip we did two years ago and we have heard that the two very capable tour leaders on that tour, Ben and Kim are now doing other tours.

What a wonderful tour you have been on and sad to think it won't be available for much longer. All that incredible knowledge lost! You should do a photo book of your travels and publish it Terry! Most people will never get the opportunity to travel to the centre of Australia and it would be wonderful to share your great journey!
