Rhoda sporting the most important accessory required for walking Kings Canyon - a fly net.
I mentioned the flies in a posting from the Mt Sonder lookout a couple of days ago where they drove us nuts while we were having lunch and they were worse at Kings Canyon.
When we arrived we saw a few people walking around with these nets on and Rhoda insisted on going to get one.
Rhoda leaving the car "Will I get one for you?"
"Nah, I'll be right."
Rhoda returning to the car 5 minutes later "I got one for you anyway."
"Nah. I'll be right. I couldn't stand looking through that netting"
Me after being out of the car for a couple of minutes shortly after "Have you got that fly net there. These bloody flies are driving me nuts." LOL
These aren't your normal house flies. They a smaller and using insect repellent has absolutely no impact on them. They have it for breakfast. Like all flies, they like to get around your eyes and the worst thing is that when you are wearing sunglasses, they get in and then fly around between the lens and your eye trying to get out again. Aarrgh!!!!
I've got a hat that has mosquito netting (as we call it) zippered into the top. You can pop it out and over the hat as needed. So nerdy, but I can still see thru binoculars with it and take photos.
Flies make our walks very difficult. It's nice that you could get the right nets on the spot. Otherwise, the walk would turn into a quick run to the car.
