8pm to 9pm on the last Friday in the month is reserved for Book Club. It’s an online chat (no zooming etc) so no real pressure. This month’s book was Lost Dog by Kate Spicer, and here I am sitting on the bed with the book and my dog. Sadly it doesn’t seem to have been a very popular book this month.
@kjarn Next month’s is The Giver of Stars which I read a few months ago, and enjoyed. Hope I can remember it enough to join in the discussion at the end of February.
It was you who put me on to it some months ago. Being in Australia its sometimes hard to get to the discussion in real time but this month I made it. I'm Kate Oz on Facebook
@kjarn Aha! I’m glad that you made it. I do like how relaxed and non-intrusive it is, and that we can go back and read/add posts later if we can’t make it on the day. Nice to meet you in person - sort of :)
Great idea! I only realised that the dog and book were in the photo when I looked at it large. Nicely done. I hope you enjoyed the book even if it wasn't too popular.
Lovely shot. I like the idea of presenting a book on a chat site where you can decide which books to read and which not to. When I go to bed it is straight to sleep.
@carole_sandford It started during lockdown so it’s always been online. There are around 50 members now but only a dozen or so actively participate on club night. Time zones, work/childcare commitments restrict others from the 8pm meet up, but quite a few add their comments afterwards. It really works well.
we have a few book club groups here, but they are all get-together ones and not online.
Pity the book wasn't very popular, what did you think of it?
If you’re interested in the group and you have access to FB, it would be really good to see you there.
